Conservative Liberal

FDR would have been a Republican today.

About me

My name is Eric-Odessit. Yes, Eric is my real name.
I am a naturalized American, originally from the former Soviet Union. As my name would imply, I was born and grew up in Odessa, Ukraine (also here). Having grown up in the former Soviet Union, I have very special appreciation for the USA. I also happen to be Jewish, so I take it very seriously when certain people proclaim their desire to kill me: it has happen before.

Nice work here. Thanks, too, for your kind remarks about Breath of the Beast. I am linking to your site… Check out my latest post- http://breathofthebeast.blogspot.com

  2. Yaacov,
Thanks. I put the link to your site on my sidebar. Sorry, I forgot to this earlier.
I am curious: did you link to my About Me page, rather than to the main page, on purpose or by accident?
    Thanks again.
    Eric.

    Art major–what can I say?

At any rate, thought-provoking and well done, Eric.

  8. Eric, when you have the time, please Google my name. I think you will see that we have much in common, both intellectually and politically. My conservatism is grounded in common sense while my liberalism is my wing to better hope for mankind. Both, to me, are essential for the success of our species and are not mutually exclusive.

While my major posting sites are the American Thinker and Old War Dogs, I would like to contribute to your site on occasion if you find my commentary fit.

  9. Hey Conservative Lib,

Culturism is a new word and book. I’d like to send you a copy because I saw you commenting on Atlas. You’ve likely seen me comment there too.

Culturism can disarm those who abuse the word racism to stop our discussions.

Culturism is an alternative to multiculturalism.

You can learn more at http://www.culturism.us Hopefully after you’ll consider calling yourself a culturist.

Send me your mailing address and indicate the name you’d like above it for a copy of culturism.

Thanks for your work, John Press

  10. My company is giving away 100,000 free campaign signs in an effort to encourage all Americans to get involved in this year’s historic election season. We were inspired by the frustrations of campaign supporters who are now being charged for yard signs. Each person can get one free sign and all they have to pay for is the shipping.

The free signs are available at BuildASign.com/campaign-signs. The page offers dozens of 100% customizable, election-related sign designs as well as an option to design a sign from scratch. BuildASign.com’s free signs can be used to support campaigns, raise awareness for specific issues, or poke fun at candidates. People can even create their own “No Foreign Oil”, “Stop Illegal Immigration”, “Pro Gun” or “Do Nothing Dems” signs!

    Sincerely;
    David Moore

  11. The topic of health care in the 2008 U.S. presidential election is one that is high on the minds of Americans. However, while most people are well aware of the immense challenges facing our health system (rising costs of medical care, malpractice, high prescription drug costs, medical bankruptcies, employers dropping coverage, 47 million uninsured Americans, etc.), they have less understanding of the specific solutions proposed by Senators Obama and McCain.

We invite you to write a post about the topic of health care in ’08. There are clear policy differences between the Obama and McCain plans, who come from two differing philosophies on health care reform.

“HealthDecision ’08: Obama and McCain on Health Care” is an initiative by HealthCare.com (http://www.healthcare.com) to help potential voters understand each candidate’s position. It is an objective comparison of the two platforms, and provides analysis as to the strengths and weaknesses of each. Most importantly, HealthDecision ’08 provides an interactive voting tool that allows users to “vote” for a preferred plan. HealthDecision can be accessed at http://decision.healthcare.com/obama-mccain/.

HealthDecision ’08 will provide you with much of the primary research with which to form a post. In addition, we provide you with links to third-party election coverage from Health08.org, NPR, The New England Journal of Medicine, NY Times, National Journal, U.S. News, WebMD and many other sites, that may serve as supplemental information sources.

I hope you’ll join us in our effort to raise voter understanding on this very important issue. We hope that you will use our information, and also link your readers to our site in order to have their voices heard.

Lastly, if you’re interested in posting real-time results of the HealthDecision ’08 poll, please reply to this email for instructions on embedded our widget onto your blog.

    Thank you.

  12. I am an employee at BuildASign.com (the same BuildASign.com that David Moore, above, posted about). We are currently offering 20,000 free customizable banners to military personnel, families, and supporters. We are working to find as many supporters of the US military as possible to offer this promotion to. As members of the social media, I was wondering if you could offer any tips or suggestions for getting the word out to people who can take advantage of this promotion. If you encounter anyone who can take advantage of this promotion, please direct them to http://www.BuildASign.com/Troops .It is very important that you direct people to that specific website because you cannot get to this promotion throught our normal website http://www.BuildASign.com.

    Thank You,

  13. Nice work Eric! My wife and I just got back from France where we had to tread lightly about who we voted for because everyone was probama. We voted before we left the US in October and by the end of Election Tuesday, both my wife and I felt like we were just run over a truck. After reading your blog, I now realize that it was not a truck at all. A 747 just crash-landed on us.

This is very interesting, but I did not know about him.
Those Russian Jews do get around, don’t they? His last name would probably be transliterated as Havkin. The way it is spelled on your site is probably the French way.
Anyway, thanks for reading and commenting.

  18. I have just found your page, thankyou for expressing to the world who we are.I have been on an extensive search for my relatives, who I am,my identity.

My fathers side of the family were from Odessa as well, but my mothers family were French. My young daughter is now living in france, and the anti-semitism felt there is unbelievable, she is no longer permitted to speak english in public,as well as when I arrive for a visit I make sure to put more Canadian stickers on her bookbag, terrible world.

She was sent there as a result of her father/my husband dying suddenly and my having to take over his business in the US,deal with lawyers, etc. so hopefully we can be reunited soon.
I have read Nechama Tec’s book, my now deceased father would often tell me about the Hero’s of the forrest.
    So,thankyou for your wonderful site.

  23. The Independence Caucus and The912project.us

Cordially invite you to our joint Internet video-presentation:

The “Big Lie” of the Government Bailouts:

Our documented research which exposes the campaign money trails behind the Bailouts!

When: THURSDAY, MAY 7th at: 9pm Eastern, 8pm Central, 7pm Mountain, 6pm Pacific.

Where: In the comfort of your own home, on the internet at: http://www.justin.tv/icaucus

What: The “Big Lie” began when Congress insisted they had to approve the government bailouts or the entire national system, of over 8,500 financial institutions, would collapse.

If this were true, how did only 25 of these institutions manage to end up with more than 93% of all bailout money?

Our research reveals the reason: The majority of campaign donations ever received by many Congressional incumbents from both parties can be traced back to these same 25 companies!

Members of Congress want you to think they are in there “fighting for you.”

For a great majority of incumbent Congress members, from both parties, our research proves that is just a Big Lie. We all knew it intuitively, but until now we haven’t had the facts at our fingertips to prove it.

    Now you will!

This research shines the spotlight on incumbents from both parties and exposes the previously unrevealed TEN LEVELS of campaign funding that these 25 companies discretely employ to steer multiple “maximum” donations to the incumbents of their choice.

This is why the Incumbents do not listen to “We The People” when we oppose by nearly 1,000 to 1 bailout and deficit spending legislation. This research gives us The Big Stick to take the next step in replacing compromised Incumbents with candidates committed to fiscal responsibility and REAL transparency.

** Please join us Thursday May 7th! **

And be one of the first to see the results of this eye-opening research!

Who: Those of us who have signed this invitation, the 357 members of “We Surround Them” and the 9-12 groups and the Nationwide Tea Parties, have joined The Independence Caucus and The912project.us to prepare and share this research. We invite you to join us on Thursday, May 7th, and ask that you share this invitation with your friends, neighbors, and family.

  28. Hey,

I moderate a tea party movement site and always read conservative blogs, just came across yours today by accident, your posts are spot on, more people like you telling it how it really is and eventually this country can get back on track how it should be.

    Keep up the good work!

  34. Eric, I came across your review of a book about the Warsaw ghetto, and traced it back to this site. We have some remarkable similarities in our backgrounds. I, too, had a grandfather who kept diaries during the war — the Russo-Japanese War — which I just published under the title THE ACCIDENTAL ANARCHIST. Would you contact me? I’ll tell you more. xsnerg@gmail.com. http://www.TheAccidentalAnarchist.com
